Practical Ways to Teach Phonics by Angela Redfern

This slim book is extremely light on blending and concentrates on alphabet knowledge, phonological awareness, syllables, initial letters and onset and rime. It is heavy on reading for meaning and multicueing.

"she used picture cues effectively throughout"

"Do...In reading conferences, encourage children first of all to interpret and respond to the author's meaning"
