It's strange how little recognition there is about the huge need for reading practice : decoding/blending practice and about the confidence that being able to 'read a book' bestows on a child. This, and the guarantee that a book only contains words that are with a child's decoding capability at that...

Derrie - I wish it was as simple as class size. Nellie Dale - the linguistic phonics teacher we can track back to the early part of the last century, taught 70 people in her class.
